I am a jewelry designer and maker based in Northern California. I grew up with very easy access to protected open spaces and I try to take a walk out in nature as much as I can. As I walk, I'll collect things like pinecones, shell fragments, bones, and rocks to take home with me. This collecting process has turned into quite an addiction and I enjoy incorporating these objects into my jewelry. Wearing these pieces becomes more than just body adornment. From the organic asymmetry, abstracting small details I discover, to the physical reminders of nature I incorporate, I want my jewelry to remind the wearer of our inherent connection to nature.
Each piece of jewelry I make is completely hand fabricated from sheet metal by me in my home studio. I utilize techniques like drilling and sawing to create negative spaces, filing and sanding to create tapered, smooth edges, sweat soldering to fuse multiple layers of metal together, and annealing and forming in order to give what was once sheet metal a dimensional quality.
As a maker that works with precious metals and stones mined from the earth, I strive to utilize my materials to their fullest capacity, often using my scrap metal pieces as the centerpiece for my designs. I aim to design jewelry I've never seen before, making one of a kind art pieces so that you can wear art every day.
